VIAAS FAQs

Q) How do I change what cameras I see?

A) VIAAS uses panels to display from 1 to 8 cameras at a time. When you add a new camera, it will appear in the upper left corner of your initial panel. To change panels, click on the arrow icons on the left and right edges of the screen. If you want to change the grouping of cameras use the CONFIGURE CAMERA PANELS button in the lower left of the screen. For more information, see the Using Panels guide.

Q) How do I view my video on a mobile phone?

A) To use Universal VIAAS, point your mobile browser at m.viaas.com. You may need to adjust the configuration for optimal performance and compatibility with your particular device - click on the configure button at the bottom of the Universal VIAAS page.

Q) How do I find the video for something that happened a while ago?

A) VIAAS makes if very fast to find video from the archive. The key is the IntelEvent - a combination of video and representative images of what was recorded. With VIAAS you filter to the event you want by viewing the images, and only then do you have to watch video. It is very fast even over limited bandwidth connections.

VIAAS has three navigation tools to help you. The BarView (slides up when you mouse to the bottom the screen) allows you to navigate to the right day/time region in a single click. The DashView provides a summary of camera activity on multiple cameras. And if you have a large number of events on a single camera to review, the ThumbnailView fills your screen with images so it is fast to pick the events to review. From any image, one click plays the video with pause and single framing capability. All from anyplace on any browser.

Q) How do I monitor what is going on right now?

A) The unique NOW mode is a powerful monitoring tool. VIAAS cameras record representative images everytime something important happens - for example a picture of each person that walks by your camera. In NOW mode, VIAAS displays and highlights the image in real-time. With a single glance you can keep track of what is going on, without requiring your entire attention or lots of bandwidth. And if you want to see more, click on the image to launch the video player of the complete video event. NOW mode is the default view when you launch VIAAS.

Q) How do I get a live video stream?

A) Just click on the GO LIVE button. You can find it on any camera control by moving your mouse over it, or in the top right of the video player. Wait a few seconds and you will see a live stream from the camera in question. And like everything you see in VIAAS, the stream will be archived if you want to go back to it.

Q) How do I share recorded video or images?

A) You can download an MP4 copy of your video or JPEG of your images. The MP4s are compatible with YouTube, QuickTime, VLC, RealPlayer and other major media players. The JPEGs work with anything. To download, from the video player click "DOWNLOAD".

Q) How do I save video and images?

A) Your video and images are automatically saved. Whatever you see in the user interface is stored in the VideoVault. Each camera subscription has an associated length of archive - four weeks in the basic package but you can extend it as you like. If you have something really important, mark it with a SAVED EVENT and it will be retained after the normal archive period expires. There are some limitations to this in the service agreement to prevent abuse - it is intended to allow you to save a few important events, not change your archiving plan without paying for it.
